Description: Hand Coiled Swirl Melon Jar by noted potter Juanita Fragua of Jemez Pueblo! It has 19 ribs in a swirl design and a stone polished finish on top in a cream color slip and a red stone polished finish on the bottom! It also has traditional designs painted around the perimeter and Juanita's signature Lightning Bolt on the inside of the rim! Juanita was one of the potters responsible for the renaissance of Jemez pottery. (Along with Mary Small). She is 87 years old now and still producing! She is the mother of Glendora Fragua, Cliff Fragua & B. J. Fragua. From our personal collection.
