Hopi Native American Indian Left Handed Kachina - Katsina - Dominic East
Artist: Dominic East (Hopi Tribe)
Dimensions: 10 1/2" tall X 5 1/2" Wide
Description: Incredible Hopi Siyangphova (Left handed Hunter) Kachina by Dominic East of Walpi. The Left Handed Kachina carries his bow in his right hand instead of his left. The detail is absolutely amazing on this piece. He is sitting on a tree stump that has roots coming out of it. He is holding his kill (Deer) on his lap! Pictures just can't do it justice. Dominic learned the art of carving from his grandfather Tino Youvella and his uncles Alex Youvella, Darnell Youvella and Preston Youvella. He started carving back in the when he was 17 years old. He carves his contemporary katsinas from the root of a cottonwood tree. He uses acrylic paints for his colors.
