Description: Traditional hand coiled "Avanyu Seed Jar" pottery from Taos Pueblo by award winning artist Bernice Naranjo. This piece is spectacular! There is an Avanyu (Water Serpent) around the perimeter with feathers and rain designs! There is also another Avanyu on the bottom! These are all sgraffito etched into the pottery! Wow! Bernice uses all natural pigments for her paints and gathers her clay twice a year from Pueblo land. She specializes in traditional and contemporary pottery. She is a self taught artist. She is the mother of Dusty Naranjo who is also a noted potter and her grandson is Jonathan Naranjo who is also an award winning potter!
